Frequently Asked Questions

Booking Your Wedding

How soon should I book the venue?
We usually recommend booking your wedding venue before booking anything else, at least 12 months before your preferred date and especially if you have a particular date for your special day. If you’d like to know more about wedding timings, please take a look at our Asian wedding checklist which explains, in detail, the timeline of your wedding planning journey.

Can I provisionally hold a date?
During peak season, wedding dates are booked up fairly quickly, so we do advise being quick to avoid disappointment. We provisionally hold a date for 14 days, to enable you to weigh up your venue options before making a decision.

How many guests can you accommodate in the day and the evening?
With two generously-sized halls, Ladywood Estate is able to accommodate guest numbers from 50 to 450.

Is the wedding venue available for exclusive hire?
Absolutely - we only have one wedding per weekend, meaning that you’ll have complete exclusivity at Ladywood Estate, with no other weddings taking place at the same time.

Can I have a church wedding?
Yes. Our local churches welcome Ladywood Estate couples and we are more than happy to host just the reception.

Can the bride get ready at the venue?
Yes - we have our very own bridal suite for the bride and her bridal party to get ready on the morning of the wedding. The bridal suite sleeps four guests, and is available for the night before your wedding and the night of your wedding.

Do you only cater to Asian weddings?
No. While we are mainly focused on Asian weddings, we are very flexible and also frequently host English weddings and African weddings.

Are fireworks or confetti allowed?
Biodegradable confetti is allowed. Sadly, no fireworks are allowed outside as we have livestock on the Estate.

Civil Ceremonies

Is the venue licensed for civil ceremonies?
Yes, we are licensed for civil ceremonies, in four separate areas including Ladywood House Main Hall (50 guests), outside terrace Portico (200 guests), the Pavilion (200 guests) and the Orangery (up to 450 guests).

Wedding Transportation

What wedding transport options are available?
We are extremely flexible with wedding transport options. Some of these options include classic and modern wedding cars, horse and carriage and also by helicopter - making for the perfect photo opportunity!

Suppliers

Do I have to use your recommended suppliers?
Clients must choose their decor company and caterer from our preferred list only. Other external suppliers like DJ's, Musicians, Painters, Sweet treat companies...etc are with the client to choose although we can recommend reputable companies.

For Guests

Do you have accommodation on-site?
For the bridal party, we do have an on-site bridal suite, as well as The Boathouse for newly-wed couples to spend their wedding night or for a honeymoon retreat.  We, unfortunately, do not provide on-site accommodation to the wider guests, however, we do have a list of recommended accommodation situated in close proximity to the venue, close to Rutland Water and the surrounding county towns of Oakham and Uppingham.

Is there on-site parking for guests?
Yes, we do have on-site parking which gives you direct access to the Pavillion. Please view our map for more information.
